Doug Stroud “Fine Art” Wedding Photography Booth

Doug Stroud “Fine Art” Wedding Photography Booth

After a long week of building and designing I was able to display our new booth for doug stroud “fine art” wedding photography at the Dulles Bridal Showcase. I would like to thank all my friends who pitched in and help me pull this together; Elizabeth, Pete, Tim, Steve and Stephen.

One of my former brides, Molly, assisted me in meeting and greeting future brides searching for all the wonderful things they need for their upcoming wedding. Thank you Molly! You were absolutely amazing!!!
We met so many wonderful ladies and their friends and family members that were there offering advice and support.

We are holding a raffle for either a FREE manicure or pedicure ($30 Value), from Prestige Nail Salon- 6331 Multiplex Dr  Centreville, VA 20121, (703) 803-8901.

If you were unable to attend the show and looking for a wedding photographer, go like our Facebook page- https://www.facebook.com/DSWeddingPhotography and “Like Us”. I will enter you into the raffle. Winner will be announced next Monday, April 22, 2014.

Using Spotlight on Mountain Lion

One thing you can do to become more extremely more productive in using your computer is to learn keyboard shortcuts. Everyone pretty much knows the standard, Command+ C, V, X to copy, paste, cut, and as you become more acquainted and look for others, Command+ N for open a new window or file these are all fairly easy to discover on your own. But what about when Mac changes their OS and drops a standard function, e.g. Using Spotlight to select a file or locate the folder or path to a file or folder to just showing an image of the file. This becomes a frustration for “power-users” as we like to think of ourselves who use keyboard shortcuts over the mouse to do as much of our work as we can. This category will be ear-marked for those hard to find, non-documented, hidden keyboard shortcuts to add a little more life to your computing time.

SpotLight – Mountain Lion v. 10.8.2

  • Cmd+Space Launch Spotlight (In this order or it will not launch Spotlight)
  • Enter Keyword Search
  • Highlight the File (Fly-out window will appear showing an image of the file itself)
  • Cmd+Hovering over the highlighted file in the fly-out window will display will reveal the file name below the image of the file, continue this and the file path will appear.
  • Cmd+Opt will reveal the folder immediately. (But this will only do you so much good, you still have to locate the drive, and then drill down through ever how many folders there are to locate the file.
  • Cmd+R while hovering your mouse over the file within Spotlight (“R” is for Reveal, to help you remember this) will open the enclosing folder- Nice!!! This is what I have been looking for (though right clicking should do this within Spotlight, but Apple blew this one.)
  • Cmd+Opt+Space will launch Spotlight Window

Clivia & Julio’s Beautiful Wedding

Clivia and Julio were married this past Saturday, October 27, 2012. Surrounded by her beautiful bridesmaids, Clivia, was absolutely gorgeous. Her wedding dress, elegant, classy and donned beautiful detail- the designer must have had Clivia in mind when they designed it. Photographing in Old Town is always a favorite, with the lovely architecture of past and the updated renovation of new. Fall brings gorgeous weather and foliage for drop-dead gorgeous backdrops. Julio, Clivia’s soon to be husband, looked quite dashing in his black and light tan detailed tux. Julio’s brother, his best man and the other groomsmen completed this terrific bridal party. The wedding ceremony was held in Blessed Sacrament, a Catholic church, right outside Old Town, Alexandria. The reception was held at the Mount Vernon Inn- a historic location here in DC. Best of wishes Clivia and Julio, may your cup runneth over with much love and many children, 😉 as the priest blessed you during your ceremony. Thanks goes out to Stephen de Leon Photography for letting me second shoot w/ him and Chris for being such a tremendous assistant!

You now have a choice- view the slideshow or move along at your own pace w/ bigger badder images…

NY, New York

A recent trip to NYC for work left a little time for play… full of photographic opportunities. Times Square was full of activity… characters from popular movies were out and about putting smiles on young ones and old ones alike, culture, entertainment, tourists, and my favorite subjects in all of NY, the NYC Police Officers. A future project…

Custom Handmade DVD Case Christina & Kurt

I am always moved to do something unique for my clients. After photographing Christina and Kurt’s wedding I had a deep sense of who they were. Surrounded by such wonderful and loving family and friends still moves me in how true and loving they both really are. This inspired me to veer off the normal path and to create a special DVD case keepsake with an all natural eco-friendly and conscious paper and then printed on a beautiful cotton rag paper. I truly hope you love it Christina and wish you all the love and happiness that life can bring.
